Alev & Yas is the new project from versatile artist Alev Lenz and one half of Simian Mobile Disco, Jas Shaw. Their styles combine perfectly on ‘All Of The Weeds’, with Lenz’s genre-blending compositional approach and intricate, catchy melodies matching the kaleidoscopic, down-tempo electronics of Jas Shaw. Jas explains that “Alev is a wonderful singer and writer, but what makes us most compatible is her enthusiasm to have her voice treated similarly to a synth. Things that I would be nervous to send to other singers are pretty routine for her. I hear a very natural, cohesive scene primarily featuring Alev and synths. It feels utterly convincing.” The pair’s debut collaborative album, Bring Your Friends, is due for release on February 23rd, 2024. -Dan Peeke
